In this place, the cradle of Cubism, lived famous artists in the world,  like Pablo Picasso (1904-1909) with his companion Fernande Olivier (It is here that creates the "Portrait of Gertrude Stein" in 1906 and "The Demoiselles d'Avignon" in 1907), Kees van Dongen (1905-1907), Juan Gris (1906), Pierre Mac Orlan (1906), Amedeo Modigliani (1908), André Salmon (1908-1909), Max Jacob (1911) ...

Burned in 1970, it was rebuilt in 1978.

The name of this site pays tribute to Emile Goudeau, journalist, novelist and poet (1849-1906). Founder in 1878 of the circle of "Hydropathes" and co-founder of the cabaret "Le Chat Noir" with Rodolphe Salis.
